Hi all,

I am close to the end of a 6000 mile motorcycle trip thru the US and last night I was updating my pics and videos when the ultimate disaster happened. I was trying to delete a duplicate file so I did a shift delete and somehow I deleted the entire folder instead. I am going to blame my lack of concentration on the trucker who was buzzing his drone past my ear every 20 seconds even though he had tons of grass land he could have went and used it. As an IT professional what I can blame him for is why I didn't have a backup. I am perfectly well aware of commandment #1. Fortunately the folder was on a non system partition, but even so I have stopped writing to the partition. Usually I am always about free tools but in this case I will bend that rule. What are the best tools out there for me to try recover my files. So far I have seen Stellar and Advanced Recovery Disk.

If push comes to shove then ZAR has been known to work in circumstances where others have failed:

Hi all,

Razor I get a blocked message. Probably the public wifi I am using (McDonald's).

Rider I forgot about recuva. I had used it before. Maybe it was on a different machine because it was not installed on this one. I have recovered a bunch of files, made a copy of the recovered folder and will go thru them to make sure I got everything.

Thanks for everyone's help. I will post back the final result.

Hi all,

If I don't have everything I have at least 90 some percent. Thanks you so much for your help. The thought of losing pics of my first visit to the Grand Canyon was making me quite distraught.

Take care.

One of the BEST tools I have used is MiniTool Power Data Recovery https://www.minitool.com/data-recov...

And the second best Easus Data Recovery https://www.easeus.com/data-recover...

I have the paid versions of these tools and they have been invaluable, damage, lost partitions are also catered for.

Recently I had a customer who had formatted his MAC and deleted over 9000 photos. He told me that he formatted and installed Mojave (the latest OS) then he found an issue and formatted and reinstalled Mojave. Then realized he hadn't backed up his photos.

I recovered using Mini tool over 15k photos, some of which he said he had deleted many years ago. This tool has always worked great for me and its not overly expensive.

Please note that even though the OP did not choose a best answer they said the the problem was solved back in May.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
