"is this Normal ???"
Only until it gets you up to date.
Sounds like you didn't download the latest ISO.

Do you have Win10 version 20H2? If not you have a lot of catching up to do.
Search for CMD, enter winver, press Enter & the version will be displayed.

ok I see -its like with all Updates - there are 2 options - 1 you have the latest Version goes the same for all software - or have an old one & get updates all the time - is that it ??

My windows 10 Home version was pre-installed when I bought my new HP ryzen 5 Laptop.

It's not from 2004, it's version 2004. If you manually run Windows Update it will eventually catch up.

The first two digits of the version numbers are evidently
the year of release, the third and fourth digits are the month.
Sometimes the actual month turned out to be later than the
targeted month.

I just finished editing a book last month in which I put the
year of copyright as 2020. But because I didn't send it to the
printer until December 11, it couldn't be printed, bound, and
shipped to the author until January 4, 2021 so that is the
actual publication date. When I get around to informing
Books In Print, that's the date I'll give.

At the time I sent it to the printer, I completely unrealistcally
hoped it would be in the author's hands before Christmas.
They still shipped it ten days before the date they promised.
Not the printer's fault!

The last two digits were the date the update came out but it often arrived a couple of months late.

Possibly to get around that embarrassment they now use 21H1 and 21H2 formats (future examples which denote 2021 first and second half of the year). There are two features updates per annum.

Currently (Jan 2021) the latest is 20H2. Win 10 features updates seem to be getting much more reliable.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Also I noticed there are alot of illegal copies (already registered) on the web - do some people think - they have a right to use these - as they may have paid for it previously either separately or with a New pc they purchased.

Also is there still the Free student version of windows 10 ?? they used to have that for windows 8

Windows 10 is still free, Microsoft never ended the "promotion". You can download it for free directly from Microsoft & as long as you have a Win7 or Win8 product key, it will activate & function normally.

You can also download & install Win10 for free without a product key. It won't activate but it will continue to work with only a few minor restrictions.

You have a new Win10 laptop along with a bunch of HP crapware bundled along with it so if you're having problems, they might be due to the bundled software. We also have no idea what 3rd party software you installed since getting the laptop or what type of user account you set up. I only use old-school local accounts rather than registering an email address or creating a Microsoft user account.

I used to have a microsoft account - but they make too much trouble so I deleted it years ago - also dont like google much as they enjoy spying on you .

I finally found out how to stop all the updates - also lost my Audio sound because of those stupid updates - had to do a system restore.
