Solved Just switched on found Popup Page Windows 10 is downloading

Specs: Windows7HomePremium, AMD A8-5500 APU
Just switched on Found POPUP "Windows 10 is Downloading in the background We'll let you know when you can start the upgrade" with (OK Lets continue.) button - I clicked X at the top R.H.S.. Any comments?

I did reserve a copy of Windows 10 by a certain date after reading about it in "Computer Active", however Currently I am perfectly happy with Windows 7 and reading occasionally what others comment I would be happy to wait several years if need-be before I ventured to a different Windows Program for as long as it lasts.
I started in 1980/1 With Windows 3.0/1 or it might have been 3.1 on a 80 column 32K commodore computer that accepted Basic instructions (I had to pay extra for those extra 40 columns) together with dongle, Disk Drives and Daisy wheel printer with Keyboard, accounts program by H.B. Computers (I am told they went away) (forerunner of Sage now the leader), and Win 3/4/5/6 a Word Processing Program ( I could save a 3 page letter) in all costing £6500 a fortune then - more than the price of a house. Each time I partially got used to windows 3.0/1. Dos x.y.z. on a 2 kg laptop 10 MB HDD, Dos 3 xyz, Me, 2000, skipped XP. 95/98. Went to Vista, Windows7, skipped8, and will most probably skip 10, but I did reserve a copy of 10 rather than have to buy it eventually.
Any comments about what I should do about Windows 10.

"any comments about what I should do about Windows 10"
I am 100% happy.
Have it on 2 PC's & a laptop.
Have installed it on friends & family comps.

"and reading occasionally what others comment I would be happy to wait several years if need-be before I ventured to a different Windows Program"
You get those comments for every new operating system.
They are still fixing bugs in W7/8.

Thank you JohnW So I will try to just keep W7 I will read The other replies on the subject trying to return W10 to sender, until It is absolutely needed to be installed. My Pencil and Paper is at the ready!
Having interrupted Windows10 going about its business, I am sure it will return to complete what it was trying to do, so I will give it sufficient time to do that,Maybe a week, before trying to remove it completely or put it somewhere safe to explore safely away from my current computer.

Win 10 has generally gone well but there have been a few disasters. There were a lot of cumulative updates at first but they seem to be less frequent so that might be a sign that they are getting on top of things - see here:

You have many months to get Win 10 for free if you wish, so there is no panic to do so. The longer you wait the less the bugs.

My mistake without going up into the loft, The initial reference I referred to as Windows 3.0/1 used in 1980/81 on a commodore 80column computer should have been described as microsoft 3.0/1 - Windows did not come along until after dos. My apologies

Yeah, the good old days LOL. My first computer looked like a keyboard and plugged into the aerial (antenna) socket of a TV. You then either wrote your own programs or ran in pre-written stuff using a cassette tape drive. Within 5 minutes you could load a small game, unless it misread and you had to restart. My next computer had a 270M hard drive, and so it goes on......

Harping back to Windows 10 I should balance the story by saying last time I heard it had been installed on 75 million PC's. Also it is true to say that when searching anything in Google or related forums it will mostly find the bad things (incl Win 10 troubles). Like newspapers it is very thin on good news. Just the same I'm not in any rush personally.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Likewise I think I will wait a long time - it may come no-option pre-installed if I have to buy another computer.
