Specs: Windows 10, Intel Core i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70GHz
Does microsoft have a checking program for its files ? Are they all there ? Are they all in order ? If not such a program would be useful.

Yes: it's called SFC - System File Checker and is par of the M$ OS family from Vista upwards. and it's part of the OS and thus "free..."

Willem1933 forgive me for hijacking this post ....

Speaking of SFC, I do not believe every files in a fresh windows installation are entirely protected system files. If this is not so, anyone out there are welcome to prove me wrong.

XpUser... you're not hijacking... far from it... Doing what you do and very well too with your comments/suggestions - solutions etc..

You could well be correct in your observations. I have generally presumed SFC applied to all system files; but then - who knows...

SFC at least allows a staring point if nothing else...

I have feeling our OP may have been suckered by a utility (s)he installed and which is now claiming there are problems galore re' system files.

(S)he has a second post immediately after this about "that" utility - and which comes across as classic con utility...

trvlr - you are absolutely right - I guess I was chugged from too much leftover Eggnog when I wrote Willem1933 forgive me for hijacking this post ...

Anyway go HERE to see what else you can do if SFC detects but cannot fix a problem (in your case, replace missing DLLs as you reported in your other post HERE.)
