I don't use Chrome, but on Firefox, all you have to do is click Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks, then right click on Bookmarks Menu & select "Sort By Name". Internet Explorer's method is similar so I assume Chrome has a method as well. Oh, look what I found - http://ccm.net/faq/34139-google-chr...

EDIT: explanation in the link is the same as what Johnw posted in response #1

Open your web browser.
Click Customize and control Google Chrome button > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Manager.
Click on the Organise button > Reorder by title.

You won't be able to put them in alphabetical order because they are stored as a file, not a list that you can edit. You can make a backup of the file, that's all:

It's located at:

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

Be aware that the AppData folder is hidden by default so you'll need to enable "Show hidden files and Folders" first.

There are utilities about which purport to enable/allow you do it... I use(d) one for Safari and whilst it works... It doesn't really do it on a permanent basis. I found I had to regularly "re-order/restore" the bookmark frequently.

However I found this via google - using:

how sort bookmarks in Internet explorer

as the string/search term

Perhaps have a browse of the above link and also duplicate my trawl and you'll likely find a few more such "hits"...
