Just to clarify that PowerLine (#2) and HomePlug (#5) are alternative names for the same thing. They are Ethernet devices that alow the domestic power to act as the network cable.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Any reason you couldn't use Wi-Fi and an extender?

Another possible way is to use a PowerLine adapter, which uses the domestic electricity cable instead of Wifi, for the set top box. Best chances if the power is on the same circuit as the router.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

We need more info about your set-top box. Is it a ROKU box with choice of wireless or ethernet connectivity, or a box provided by your TV/internet provider with a coax input?

If all you’re after an internet connect, and can use ethernet rather than wifi, then use the homeplug system

All you need are two modules and their (usually supplied) ethernet cables.

One module connects to your router, and the other to your tv device.

Job done.

Ethernet is faster, more stable too than wifi, even with range extenders.

If you’re in the UK then I’d recommend Devolo modules. They were the first, and for my money the best...

Elsewhere I guess you review the others, Netgear, D-link, tp-link etc.?

Amazon is good source for whichever you might consider; and also user reviews.
