Solved I can't access my google chrome browser

September 3, 2016 at 10:55:41
Specs: Windows 10
I have google chrome in my "programs". I have a google chrome desktop shortcut. I have a google chrome icon in my task bar. Google chrome is "enabled" in my search provider add-ons.
Please explain why I can not get access to google as my alternative web browser.
In efforts to correct the problem, I uninstalled google chrome and reinstalled it. I have a fresh, new desktop shortcut. It still does not function. Nothing happens when I tap/click on it. Weird.
It has always worked before; for some reason it is no longer working. Any ideas on how to make it work?

What happens if you go to the Chrome exe file itself and double click it?

Re #1 and #2.

Probably the simplest way to run directly from the exe file (program file) is to type chrome.exe in search (magnifying glass icon to the right of Windows icon tin the taskbar - bar at bottom). Include the dot between chrome and exe.

When it shows up, just single left click what it has found and see if Chrome starts from there. This will not be using the normal shortcut so it might prove something.

"this site does not solve my problem"
You've misunderstood this site. You have to solve the problem, we can only offer advice on how to go about it because we have no access to your computer. It might therefore take quite a few exchanges of ideas in order to make progress. Furthermore folk on here are volunteers and might not always be available.

#1 was not intended to be a solution. It was suggested in order to determine if this was a shortcut issue or not. Obviously not.

You did not comment on the suggestions in #3. Did you try them?

Clarification...oops. Please do not misunderstand, I find this website to be enormously helpful and everyone is wonderful! My comment for "this site does not solve my problem was intended for #3 ( I must have tapped "reply" underneath the wrong section--I was not referring to Computing.Net by any means). Initially I typed in the address exactly as it reads in #3 and it brought me to the Chrome for Work and Education Help Center (?). I didn't realize that Don C's address was a link which I could tap on. The address he typed actually has more to it than is visible--that's where the problem came from for me. I did not end up where he intended for me to be; namely, "Repair Chrome if it crashes or won't open". This link is helpful. I will begin experimenting with their options of solutions tomorrow.
A big thank you to all the wonderful Computing.Net volunteers for taking time in help those (like myself) who are basically computer handicapped! :)

Magically everything works today (and I didn't even make an attempt to try to fix what didn't work yesterday...just tapped on the Google Chrome icon in my task bar for kicks and voila!). Maybe Chrome was experiencing a glitch. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome two days ago; for two days the icon wouldn't engage and then today it works fine. The world work in mysterious ways. Not complain'n, just say'n.
