#6 again makes it look like a hardware fault. If you are seeing an indicator that moves with sound then a driver issue is unlikely but try by all means.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Is there a volume control icon in the notification area? If so is it turned up.

"In Device Manager > Sound video and game controllers" are there any errors showing under the sound system? See if it says the sound is working.

Do you ever hear any sounds at all? Bear in mind that this could be a hardware fault (faulty component or connection inside).

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

The volume is on 100 %

When I play a video or something on the laptop , then if I go to playback devices, there is an indicator like the sound is working. But nothing comes from either the speaker or the headphones.
Also I tried running a troubleshooting sound problems, but nothing come up. Then I tried updating the drivers, but it says that all drivers are up to date.

Well its was an open box laptop.

Do you think it has to do with the bios, the drivers, or some missing files?

Thanks

As you say that an indicator shows as if the sound is working then my best guess is some sort of hardware fault. Could be the wiring to the speakers for example, or some problem with the headphone jack. Do headphones work?

No, headphones dont work.

Do you think it could be a problem with the actual drivers?
Like If I uninstall them and reinstall them?

The Asus G501JW is an expensive "Republic of Gamers" gaming laptop. Drivers should be downloaded from the Asus website only, no place else.

Here are solutions to some common sound problems on your computer. These solutions can also help if you don't hear any sound coming from your speakers or headphones, or if there's a problem with the sound you do hear. For a step-by-step tutorial to help you identify and fix common sound problems, go to No sound in Windows.
