Solved HP desktop=bad shutdown=blue blank screen. No picture, no ic

Specs: Windows 7
HP deskt.top,bad shutdown=bluescreen. No icons, No picture. The computer did not shutdown properly. Did all the right things to shut it down, Message came back=shutting down. Next day I see a blue screen Nothing else, It did not shut down, so was going all night.result blank blue screen., no Icons, no picture. Nothing at the top or bottom of screen. Just blue. any Ideas. Make it simple please as I do not have the Knowledge or familiarity with these things as most of you have. I am running windows 10.

1. Press & hold the power button until the computer shuts down; it may take 5-10 seconds.
2. After it's shutdown, unplug the power cord, then press & hold the power button again, this time for about 20-30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cord back in & start the computer.

It worked. Thanks. First Time I got HP logo, Picture and password panell then Blue blank screen. Tried it again and I got the lot. Went to google and It came up to. Thanks for your help. Greatly apreciated. Bev

Just for future information, a Restart can also sometimes sort things. In Windows 10 this is a better reset than shutting down then starting up again.

You can start computer in safe mode and perform clean boot

How do I select best answer please. Cant do that as It will not let me. I found the best answer for me was from Rider. It worked first time. Thanks

As long as you log in as the same user you will see on the post near the right side by each answer (except your own) the words "Select as Best Answer", just click on the one related to what you feel is the best answer.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
