Did something happen to the hard drive???

You can install a fresh copy of Windows free. Go to Microsoft and download Windows 10 here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Use another computer to make the installation media. It'll copy the necessary files to the flash drive.

If it was already activated you'll already have a digital license.

You will lose any data on the existing drive, but it sounds like you already have.

First of all, you need to create a Microsoft recovery USB drive and boot your HP computer. Then download a data recovery tool, like iBoysoft Data Recovery, EaseUS, Recuva to scan your computer.

Here is how to create a bootable USB drive and restart your computer: https://support.hp.com/us-en/docume...

"It shows error No boot device detected, install operating system on hard disk"

"No boot device detected" can mean a few different things:
- the HDD has failed
- there is no HDD installed
- the boot order is configured incorrectly in the BIOS

You can't install an OS to a failed or non-existent HDD, so you're going to have to determine which of the above is causing the error message.

Hi,
No boot device found" is usually an indication of a failed hard drive or a corrupt OS. You can try and get into the BIOS of your computer by tapping away on the ESC or F10 key as soon as you power on the laptop. Once you access the BIOS check if your computer even recognizes a drive. If yes then the problem may be related to OS. Secondly, you can try any data recovery software like recuva, stellar data recovery, testdisk and download on your USB drive. Run the program and recover your data efficiently.

Yes, you can make a bootable USB to boot into a failed OS. Or you can choose a data recovery program with bootable edition to boot into computer and recover data from it.
