Solved How to restore ASUS X552 to factory defaults

Specs: Windows 10, AMD A4 Quad
The windows password is lost and it's linked to a microsoft account an the person who has that account passed away. No way to get it. No receipt for ownership purposes.

We just need to reset it back to factory.

I have been to the asus site, and have tried a bunch of other things, softer ware etc. I would like to reset to factory, rather then just throwing windows 10 on it.

Factory Recovery on ASUS laptops is usually the F9 key at boot time, as described here: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/rest...

Is there anything on the drive that you "might" wish to retrieve- before restoring to factory state?

To truly - There is absolutely nothing I want to keep.

To Phil 22 - I have been the f9 route, and every option on the blue screen requires the password to the account the computer is locked to.

You "might" be able to discover/reset the password if you try the methods in responses #5 #6 at this CN post:

It's a lengthy post as we were (and generally are) cautious when it comes to password issues; for reasons that are clear in the thread there.

Also there are suggestions re' using the windows-7 key associated already with the computer to allow you to re-install via a legal ISO download and burned to DVD. Or to borrow a copy of the same version and use your key to re-install, You can also duplicate that disk for future use. Be aware that likely the version installed is an OEM; and the key will be for that version. You can only use an OEM key with an OEM installation; and likewise a Retail key with a Retail disk/installation You can't mix 'n match.
