Solved How to redirect photo images that went astray?

Hewlett-packard / Officejet 6210
June 8, 2016 at 06:13:45
Specs: Windows 10
Downloading images from my camera memory card into the computer and they went to:
C:\Users\Greene\pictures\2016
along with all the others under their various dates.

i attempted the same procedure today and discover that the images have now gone into OneDrive, a feature I have never used previously:
C:\Users\Greene\OneDrive\pictures\cameraimports\2016-06--8\IMG_...

This is causing me problems and perhaps somebody could tell me:
- how to get the images that went astray to join the others.
- how to insure that this does not happen again.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

✔ Best Answer
"how to get the images that went astray to join the others."

In Windows Explorer, (Press the Win key + the E key on your keyboard to open Explorer), navigate to the C:\Users\Greene\OneDrive\pictures\cameraimports\2016-06--8\ folder, then copy them and paste them into the C:\Users\Greene\pictures\2016 folder.

"how to insure that this does not happen again."

How are you copying them? Are you using software? if so, you would set the destination path in the software's settings.

Personally, I would move everything to the OneDrive folder. This way if your hard drive ever fails, you have a copy of all your pictures online in OneDrive.
If it's set up right, everything in the local OneDrive folder gets automatically uploaded to your online OneDrive storage.

I'd also make dvd copies of anything you don't want to lose; "especially" photos... Even make two sets. Check the dvd copies are truly accessible too...
