On my corporate PC, I often lose my autohide taskbar when a window does not open in full screen mode. Once I click the square next to the close X to expand the window, my taskbar reappears on top of all windows.

My point is that I don't think it's a taskbar issue as much as I believe it to be related to the fact that some windows don't always open fully and the OS doesn't realize that you want to see the taskbar because the smaller window is in focus.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find out why certain windows don't open in full screen mode. Many of them are IE windows that open when I click a link within a corporate app (also running under IE) These windows, as well as the main app's window, are displayed in IE, but don't look like normal IE windows. No address bar, no back button, no browser settings to manipulate, etc.)

Corporate IT has been no help is determining why the "sub-windows" don't always open is full screen mode.

Perhaps you could check and see if your autohide issue corresponds to the size of the window that is currently in focus when the issue occurs. That might lead you to a solution.

Using firefox portable
taskbar doesn't show after mouse hits the bottom
hit windows key
taskbar pops up
taskbar pops up when mouse hits bottom, repeatedly
then after a short while its back to not popping up

It would help if you disabled taskbar transparency by going to setup then personalize then colors. It works better somehow (not perfect though)
