Specs: Windows 10
I have a ACPI x86-based pc with a x32-based O/S, but I have a x64-based CPU. How would I change the PC & O/S to x64?

No need to wipe the HDD, follow the instructions, select Custom install to overwrite the existing 32-bit installation.
In other words, you only do a clean install ( deleting all the partitions or formatting ) if you have problems with your existing install.

But first ensure all critical files (personal "stuff" etc. are safely duplicated off the system as is.

Never wise to make major (even minor) changes to a working system without first safeguarding data...

Don't get confused by "x86". If you have a 64-bit CPU (aka x86-64), you can run either a 32-bit or 64-bit OS. If you currently have a 32-bit OS installed & want to run a 64-bit OS, you will have to wipe the HDD & do a fresh install of the 64-bit OS. You can NOT upgrade a 32-bit OS to 64-bit, you must start from scratch.
