Solved how to fix all missing Tabs from drive properties Win 10

November 20, 2016 at 07:30:05
Specs: Windows 10 Pro x64, i7 - 2.8GHz / 16 GB
Hi

All tabs except the security are missing from drive properties when the drive is right clicked ....... windows 10 pro. This happened after the explorer crashed. I am sure it is an explorer problem but how to fix it?
Have checked for virus and the system is clean.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

First restart the machine (often overlooked).
Go to Tweaking.com
Look to middle column under latest release to find link (ignore big Download button, it is an ad). Install and run as per instructions. This will repair Windows and should resolve your issue. Follow recommended procedure including prescan and running in Safe Mode. It can take a while so give yourself some time to do it in.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

One way would be to use System Restore (from Windows) to a date/time before the crash happened. It will retain your own files and usually works very well, probably about 15 minutes depending on your computer.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

unfortunately the system restore had been turned off at some earlier time unknown to me (possibly a virus although I don't think so, I keep the puter fairly clean) or when I was fooling with the services ..... I may have turned off shadow copy (needed for system restore) ...... I have turned it on now and make sure it works.

Hey thanks for the reply ...... if you come up with any other ideas let me know .... I am still working on it ....... need to find where in the registry the 'windows explorer' lives

Thanks

If it happens to be an upgrade to Win 10 then MS turn off restore during this process but don't remind you to put it back on again.

Interesting but most reports seem to be about just the Security tab being missing.

Hate to come up with even bigger guns but there are some here:

Re #8
General link is on the far right of page under Operating Systems (top one is Windows 10). However from what you say it sounds like you have now been automatically linked to your post in its new place.

EDIT:
Make sure you don't miss new input from Fingers at #9. I've noticed that the program suggested has fixed several problems on here in the past.

Hey Fingers KUDOS ... went to Tweaking.com and ran the repairs ... took forever but it was the MOST intense and in depth repairs I've ever seen and used.
I would recommend it to anyone who has a windows problem.

Thanks to all that helped and mostly to Fingers.
