November 16, 2020 at 08:52:24
Specs: Windows 10
I tried the following instructions :-
How to run Photodeluxe 4.0 on windows 10
* Hold down windows key while hitting R key
* Type in msconfig and then hit OK to run.
* Hit "Boot" tab
* Check "Save Boot", then click OK.
* You will now be prompted to "Restart". Hit Restart.
* Once computer restarts you will be in safe mode.
**
* Open cd tray and insert Adobe Photo-Deluxe 4.0 program disk.
* Open the disk and go to and open the English folder.
* Open Install folder.
* Click on setup.exe
* Program should now load like in an XP or earlier computer.
**
* Hold down windows key while hitting R key
* Type in msconfig and then hit OK to run.
* Hit "Boot" tab
* UN Check "Save Boot", then click OK.
* You will now be prompted to "Restart". Hit Restart.
* Once computer restarts you will be in Normal mode.
* Download and run from the Adobe.com site: pdx401upus.exe. The Adobe site insures there is no corruption.
* All should be running well. . . .

After carrying out the above advice Photo-Deluxe appeared to be installed. But some of the drop-down options were not available and I cannot find pdx401upus.exe as advised in the instructions. WHERE CAN I FIND IT, PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THAT Photo-Deluxe IS OUT OF DATE, I'M WELL AWARE OF THAT BUT I STILL FIND IT DOES ALL I NEED AND AT 87 I''M TOO BLOODY OLD TO LEARN A NEW SET OF TRICKS! HEEEEEELP PLEASE!

pdx401upus.exe is part of the PhotoDeluxe program, so you probably already have it.

"Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 is comprised of the following executables which occupy 6.73 MB (7058652 bytes) on disk:
* catalogSubInstaller.exe (47.50 KB)
* ColorApp.exe (467.00 KB)
* PD4.exe (3.22 MB)
* pdx401upus.exe (2.17 MB)
* PhotoParade.exe (566.00 KB)
* AdobeReg32.exe (294.50 KB)"

How about installing an older version of Windows, Win98 for example, in a virtual machine? PhotoDeluxe will work perfectly on Win98, but you're going to struggle like heck to get it to run properly on Win10.

Hi riider, thanks for your reply . . . but if pdx401upus.exe is part of the PhotoDeluxe program, then why the instruction :- "Download and run from the Adobe.com site: pdx401upus.exe. The Adobe site insures there is no corruption. All should be running well. . . ."
And as for the rest of your advice - I'm sorry but I'm afraid at 87 yrs I'm not that well up on the tech side of things to understand how to implement your advice. Perhaps the initial instructions I was following were a load of tripe anyway?
