Specs: Windows 10, do not know
For some unknown reason, my e book special reports in a .doc file changed into gibberish from the original English format. As a result, I have made several efforts to change the gibberish into the original English with no success. Thank you in advance for helping me resolving this issue.

Are your other doc files OK?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Gibberish "might" simply be that the wrong font has somehow been transposed into the document; and in effect the font is now symbols etc?

Perhaps make a copy of the document as is; then (with the copy only) select the whole document and change the font to say Arial. If that resolves the issue, then change the font again to whichever font you prefer?

It is a looooong shot - but who knows?

It can also mean it was created in Word but they are trying to open it with something like Notepad which doesn't always read Word documents correctly.
