✔ Best Answer
Could be power-saving settings
Does it shutdown all the way or does it go into sleep/hibernate mode?

you may want to change your energy mode to high performance & set time-till-sleep to never instead of the 10-60 which is set by default on most laptops

That was my only bet, let's for someone else to reply.

In the mean time could you check in event-viewer for hardware (critical-)errors around the time you had one of these shutdown.

Install a monitoring program HWMonitor or similar and monitor the temperatures while the process is working. If the temps continue to rise then it is a thermal shut down to protect it from being damaged. If this is the case and the machine is not very new then it probably is time to get a can of compressed air and blow out all of the vents. Report the temperatures and the results of the cleaning for additional advice.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
