How do I install Windows 10?

Specs: 8.1, Intel Celeron/4GB
I am trying to upgrade (if you can call it that) from Win 8.1 to 10 on both my desktop and notebook. Twice the installations have failed on each. What am I doing wrong?

Use Media creation tool & install it like a normal program.

Hopefully you have safeguarded "all" your files before any attempts to upgrade to win-10?

If not and you can still access them, then safeguard/copy them to external storage DVD at least.

First, manually run Windows Update. When complete, run it again (Scan For Updates) to make sure you get all important updates.
Restart the machine and log in as administrator if you have more than one log in. It happens that if logged in as a user, even though you approve the installer with the admin password, it will fail, you have to be logged in as an administrator to do the upgrade.
I found these out the hard way when a couple of upgrades failed at work multiple times but as admin, we were able to upgrade 10 machines at this point.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
