Specs: Windows 10
I might need to reset my system since it is unable to receive updates. How do I backup my windows 10? Also, I have installed Microsoft office 2016, so will this be saved on the back up too?

There's a built in system backup feature:

It creates a system image of everything installed on the drive which contains the Windows installation.

However, it has some shortcomings such as you can't restore individual folders or files (or applications) from the backup. You have to restore the entire backup even if you only need one file from it.

If you need individual file recovery you also need to use the "File History" feature in Windows 10.

✔ Best Answer
1-Back up will back up your data/files. It does not allow you to save an installed program, that will need to be reinstalled if you perform a factory restore.
2-A system image is a protection that will allow you to return the machine to exactly the way it was when you made the image. If you had one from previously, that would help you, making one now will not restore anything.
3-Performing a system restore to a prior date will restore system files and the registry to a prior date and will likely fix many system problems, including the update engine. has a repair tool for Windows that might also repair your updates for you (NOT the green "Download Now" on top, read further down in the middle):

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
