Solved How can I remove the arrows on my desktop shortcuts?

Specs: Windows 10
Is there a simple way besides going into the registry? I'd rather not go in to the registry if I don't have to, but I really dislike the clutter of having an unnecessary arrow on all of my shortcuts.

"...but I am not a fan of downloading anything"

Then you'll have to make changes in the registry....

Are you referring to the two blue arrows?
Or, the single arrow on program shortcuts?

You are talking about the shortcut icon which has the corner arrow to show it is a shortcut rather than a direct icon. You can right click on the icon, select Properties and Change Icon. Then you select the correct icon without the arrow or in some special cases select something different and special.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Single, blue upward curved arrow. It is a small transparent square with the blue arrow within the square in the bottom left corner of each desktop shortcuts. All of the shortcuts are to various websites.

I am not looking to change the icon, just to remove the arrow in the bottom left corner. All of my shortcuts arrive on my desktop with their own icons and I like them. For example, Accuweather has a sun...etc.

I guess I'll have to live with the arrows. I don't want to chance that something may go wrong if I should delve into the registry.

If I decide to go into the registry in an attempt to rid my laptop of arrows throughout my desktop, upon completion of the task, will the current arrows disappear or do I need to delete my existing shortcuts and create new ones? Thank you for your assistance.

Once you change it in the registry, all you need to do is reboot and the changes will be made.
