Chrome browser suddenly won't open. I was able to open MS Edge browser and it seemed to be functioning normally. The Chrome icon is showing inside the task bar, and when I mouse over, it shows a thumbnail version of the site, but clicking it will not open it. Just to test alternative, I downloaded Mozilla firefox browser, which we never use--and it seemed to function perfectly fine. So, since I'm not a fan of Edge and just want my Chrome working normally again......how to fix? It must be easy and just a matter of tweaking settings, but so far, no success.
Because we can't see exactly what is going on, best you uninstall & reinstall.
To get a complete uninstall, use Geek.Geek Uninstaller

Just Double click on the program in Geek, that you want to uninstall. If it opens a web page, close it & then wait for it to present the 2nd step.
If you value your privacy, continue using Firefox & give Chrome the heave-ho. https://www.washingtonpost.com/tech...

I am personally a fan of Firefox and recommend it. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
Just un-install and install again. It's a feature of quality software that when you do this, all problems should be solved. But, think about this : OTHER software may have messed up your Chrome installation. Re-installing will not help, and it can be frustrating because all of this can be time-extensive.
So have a think : what did you recently install .. .or un-install ? Or, what did you recently do that is a bit different ?
