Did this happen suddenly? Did you make any changes to the system prior to situation?

See if this helps?

trvlr,

Is that the right link? It doesn't appear to be.

Is it your whole desktop on the screen or just a single window that is too far to one side?
If it if your entire desktop that is off to one side then right click on a blank spot on the desktop and select Display Settings. On my desktop I have a graphics card so the default screen is replaced by the NVidia control panel but that is where you will see any display settings. Unlike separate monitors, laptops do not have separate monitor buttons for controls so any settings will be there.

Another thing to try is to shut down the laptop, unplug it, remove the main battery (if possible) and press the power button a few times to discharge and remaining power from capacitors that might hold errors in memory. Replace the battery and start up again. This is simple but have been known to 'Fix' strange behavior on computers since the beginning.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Norman,

In addition to asking whether it is the entire screen or just a window
that is shifted, I have wanted to ask what "arrow" you moved as far
as it would go. The mouse pointer? Are you saying that you moved
the window as far as you could with the mouse? If so, first make the
window narrower. Put the mouse pointer on the edge of the window
so that it becomes a double-headed arrow, "grab" the edge, and
make the window much narrower. If necessary, do the same thing
with the height. Then try again to move it.

I suppose the "mouse pointer" has a different name when no
mouse is being used. I almost never use the touchpad....

@ Jeff Checked the link and it refers to using the arrow keys and also other approaches using card/monitor tweaks too.

trvlr,

The link does refer to using the arrow keys, but only for
rotating the screen, not for moving it.
