Specs: Windows 7
How do I get my New Dell Laptop to play a CD? I have put the disk in the drive but nothing happens after that.

Windows 10 does not have native CD/DVD playing (yet?). Do you know if Dell included any software? If not VLC Player (free) will do it, see here:

EDIT:
You will almost certainly have use for VLC Player anyway - it plays no end of files that MS won't touch (sound and video).

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

The answer to the problem is- You have to find where the default setting list is for all the things on the laptop(not user friendly). When you find the list of things that play stuff you have to pick a default way to play or use the function. THEN you have to choose whether you want it to work automatically or only after it asks you.
Do they think everybody was born a geek? All they had to do was send me an easy to read manual and tell me what to click for what I need to do. I'm smart but some of this s%&# is not intuitive

Aha, then Dell did provide CD/DVD software. I think what you were setting was the Windows 10 AutoPlay options for devices (what they do). In your case it was "inserting a CD". Most likely you found it in Control Panel but with computers there are often several ways to access and do things:

I think it's just the learning curve but glad to hear you sorted it. If you ever find some file type (audio or video) that won't play then install VLC player as suggested.
