I understand that because Windows 10 is supposed to be the greatest Windows version yet with its award-winning Start Menu, everybody is rushing out to get a free copy of it from its author - Microsoft.

In order to experience the full benefits of this cool OS on your "old" machine, you should first check with the OEM manufacturer to see if they have Windows 10 drivers for your particular model. In cases where there is none, Windows 10 can only substitute the ones that is not native to the machine. The caveat is that substituted drivers do not always guarantee optimal performance for your machine.

Thanks XpUser... Your advice is of course common sense; but sadly many won't think along those lines - so useful when one such as thee prompts them...

Can't help but think the phrase "award winning" was used in the past for something like win-8 with regard to the new, improved front end and look - and "no" startup options...' 'Cos it was targeted at the mobile wizz kids crowd - and not those who were (still) using "real computers"?
