Win8/8.1 is not & never was a popular OS. 75% of the world uses Win10, only about 5% use Win8/8.1. Almost 20% still use Win7.

Win8 is no longer supported, Win8.1 is on extended life support but that will end in 2023.

Win10 is still free. All you have to do is download & install. There's little reason not to do it. What makes you think you'll get the Home Edition & not the Pro Edition? What version of Win8 do you have? That will determine which version you'll upgrade to.

You can always add GPE to Win10 Home.

This is why I brought it up- because mines Home Edition. Of course it would be nice if I could install windows 10 Pro edition & let me use my windows 8 Registration key.

Did you look at the last link in my other response? It explains how to add GPE (Group Policy Editor). If you don't like that one, here's a couple more.

From my point of view, I am currently using the latest version of Windows 10, and
it’s much better than Windows 8. It’s one of the best versions of Windows that ever existed.
It is easy to use and is best in performance, optimization, and features.
