Disk usage 100% problem, unusual

July 30, 2019 at 02:15:56
Specs: Windows 10
I have a disk usage 100% problem, but somewhat bigger. I have went through all of the tutorials on how to remove the problem, from disabling everything to reseting virtual memory, installing fresh win10 from usb, updating drivers and so on. Then I changed my HD to a friends HD, and the same thing was happening. Under the task manager, disk usage was displayed as 100% and it didn't matter if I had 200 mb running or 4mb running. It always jumps to total of 100% used HD. I checked aswell the health of HD and it displayed all the green sectors. Also when that 100% disk usage occurs my pc often gets shut down.

"Also when that 100% disk usage occurs my pc often gets shut down"
Could be over heating.

Dust is one cause.

With the cover off, if you have an external fan, test with that.

You say:
Under the task manager, disk usage was displayed as 100%
What particular things were showing as responsible for those high readings?

Have you worked on the CPU seating recently?

When you cleared out the dust did you include the CPU heatsink, the fans and the vents?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

100% disk usage means the HDD is full. 100% CPU usage is something totally different.

"I cleaned the dust and I ran this CPU temp check"

Explain what you cleaned & how. Your CPU temp is WAY too high. If you removed the heatsink/fan from the CPU, you must remove all traces of the old thermal material & then replace it with fresh thermal paste. And the paste must be applied correctly. The FX 6300 6-core uses the middle dot method. What you'd need to do is clean the top surface of the CPU & bottom surface of the heatsink, apply a small dab of paste to the center of the CPU, then install the heatsink/fan. Do NOT spread the paste or apply too much. Here's an example & even this dab is a bit much: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...

If the problem is 100% CPU usage & it continues after correcting the heatsink thermal paste, your system is probably infected.

@riider, i just did it and for now things seem ok.
when i run fortnite it goes to 100% tho (maybe it should upon starting a game?)

@derek, in this case, epicgames was shown there as major, but often its random processes that pop up and show 100% usage
