you were right. These were the questions that went unanswered. Meanwhile my son has donated me a better PC with a better CPU and updated software. Your answer will help me decide if I make this new PC also dual boot or not. Thank you

What was/is your question; can you give a link to it here; or repeat the question here?

Or perhaps someone didn't have an appropriate answer.

Am trying out a dual boot system on my PC, Win10 and Linux Mint. Since this morning I tried to log into my Gmail account, but my e-mail address was not recognised, but my telephone number was recognised when using Mint. Tried many times after checking my address, but did not succeed.
Changed to Win10 and there logging into gmail it was recognised. Went back again to Mint Tricia and then it worked well.

Earlier I put a question in Computing.net that my simple scan app was not working, but got no answers. My question is there something wrong in my Linux Mint underlying software that causes these problems and is there a way to check the Linux system.

Thanks for help

Question 2 dd 29.12.2019

29.12.2019
Having a problem with simple scan, which I was using to file all documents I need to keep for reference. But at a certain moment. I don’ t remember when it started to act funny. Where pressing the “simple scan” button in menu before, I could scan with a very good resemblance to the original. Now the menu appears and within milliseconds it disappears. I thought this had to do with the HLIP, I use with my old HP Deskjet 3050A, so got rid of it and re-installed a new version of it. No change

I have now updated the Nvidia driver to what Driver Manager reccommends: nvidia driver-435. Now when I type scan in the Menu I get Xsane Image scanning program, but no Simple Scan. This scans, but doesn’t produce the old and better quality I had with Simpl Scan. Did I use the wrong Nvidia driver or is there another problem?I am now using Linux Mint Tricia, updated up to today. I had hoped the problem had solved itself, but it didn't.

Meanwhile I uninstalled HPLIP and installed a new version, which works with Xsane Image scanning program, but not with Simple Scan. Using Xsane Image scanning program produces only a file type I cannot put in my filing system. Says there are faulty things in the file.

I looked in Driver Manager and found 4 possibilities to update NVidia. It says:

NVIDIDIA Corporation: GK208B [GeForce GT 710}
This device is using the recommended driver.

1. NVidia-driver-435 (recommended) Version 435.21 - 0ubuntu0.18.04.2 - NVidia driver metapackage
2. xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (open-source) - version 1:1.0.15-2 - X.org X server - Nouveau diusplay driver
3. nvidia-driver-390 - version 390.116-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 - NVidia driver metapackage
4. nvidia-driver-430 - version 430.50-0ubuntu0.18.04.2

Uninstalled the Simple Scan with Software Manager and re-installed it. Simple Scan appears in the Menu, but the interface of Simple Scan doesn't appear for use. Isn't there an Linux mint program that searches for faults ?

Any help welcome

First you selected a best answer which marks the post Solved. If you still need an answer see if you can uncheck it or others will assume you do not need an answer. If this does not work please contact the Moderator 'DerbyDad03' with a private message to do this for you. You also should ask for the post to be moved to the Linux Forum because the question mainly pertains to the use under Linux so there will be others there to help you better (my understanding of Linux is limited).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

> Or perhaps someone didn't have an appropriate answer.

Nobody stated it must be an appropriate answer. If the question is weird, so will the answer be. Not stating it is the case here, but I can't think why a question could be "un-answerable".

I think the problem is more in the area of wanting to answer, than in the area of not able to answer.

Never said that the question was "unanswerable". Given that the OP received no response, I'd believe that no one thought they had an (appropriate...i.e. logical) answer to the question(s). I saw both and felt that it wasn't in my realm of expertise to attempt a reply.
