Create Icon on desktop to open a website

Ya, I’ve done that for ever and it works great.

But today I was on a chat with Norton support he was on my pc remotely trying to fix a LAN Proxy problem.

He uninstalled several problem malware programs and installed some other programs including Google Chrome.

After he was off the system I was checking around my HP Laptop and noticed the the Desktop Icons with Apps on the PC worked but all the web based icons did not work anymore.

I did the procedure like I had many times before from a web site but the Icon just will not work at all.

The error I get on all of them is when I click on the icon to open it
Is Application Not Found.

I’ve never seen this one before but I’ll keep trying to find the solution unless one of you gentlemen have a answer for me,

I do plan on uninstalling Google Chrome and testing the icons again to see if that might have something to do with it?

Thanks.

What browser where you using before? internet explorer/firefox/etc?
also is your browser still installed or did your tech uninstall it?

Or perhaps the filelocation of your browser is no longer indexed.

Simple solutions are often the best

Also he probably set the default browser to Chrome. Open your usual browser and set it as default. Then see if the icons work again.
Did he give you a reason for installing Chrome? There does not appear to be any reason to install another browser when there is another working browser and it is not a computer they will probably ever be working on again unless they are being paid a bonus for every time they install one.
As long as your preferred browser works I would uninstall Chrome (as recommended by riider) right away.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Would be a good idea to remove your email address from the post too otherwise someone will harvest your email address and you will be bombarded with junk and spam.
