When i try defrag my C Drive it states that optimsation is not available. I have had this computer for 2 years and never defragmented it but my computer is now very slow hence why i want to defrag it although it will not allow me to.
how can i change this in order to be able to defrag and optimise my C drive again?
Is your C drive a disk or an SSD? If it's an SSD then optimisation is not very important. With modern fast disks defrag has far less impact than it used to. I assume optimisation is turned on so maybe a screenshot of the error would help us. There are free websites around which do this, just give us the URL. Here's one:

Slowdowns are much more often caused by malware. Best to first do a quick check with these three freebies, which often find what anti-virus programs miss. Run them in the order given:
AdwCleaner:

(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)

(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.MalwareBytes:

Download the free version.
Install and Run the program but before doing its Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds. Please copy/paste the logs on here.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
