Solved Cortana not recognizing Realtek High Definition Audio

Hi all.

I upgrade from Window 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro.

As part of this upgrade I tried to turn on Cortana so that it would speak to me but all I got was the message to the effect, Cortana may not work with/recognise Realtek audio.

As it stands, my voice input is via a desktop microphone which works well with Skype.

Here I am totally lost, how/what can I do to get some program that is recognized by Cortana?

Thanks XPUser, but my audio does still work, only Cortana does not recognise it.

Regards.

Hi XpUser.

I dug more deeply into your suggested site which took me to the Realtech download site. From there I downloaded the latest audio driver for a 64 bit Win 10 OS., and it works.

Cortana works now but I must admit it took some time for her to understand me. Now she gives me apples instead of pears, her reasoning is that they are both fruit so here cop this.

At the moment I find her to be rather generic in her advice, but time should fix that ...I hope :)

When I upgraded to cortana it first told me cortana does not work with realteck speakers and then when the install was finished cortana could not hear me and would not respond. I found the fix to be TURNING OFF by clicking the box/circle in front of "ACOUSTIC ECHO CANCELLATION" . I first went into control panel and turned off enhancements in realteck driver and then Cortana could hear but goggle could not, so I went back in and turned "AUTO GAIN CONTROL" on and both worked. I hope this helps somebody.
