Can't Access .org Website With Win10

March 23, 2020 at 13:21:24
Specs: Windows 7
My problem is similar to the previous problem. One web site that I need to go to, opens, with no problems, on Windows 7, but won't open in Windows 10. This is all on the same internet provider. I have tried 3 different browsers and not difference.
Forgot to mentioned that the web site is a dot org web site. The only one having trouble with.

Is there some reason why you didn't post a link to the "dot org web site"?

Probably NSA, CIA, FSB... maybe even MI5/6 - or even CSIS...?

Why would I post a link to the dot org web site? It isn't a problem with them. I can get on the web site through Windows 7 on this internet provider. I can not get on it through Windows 10. I have been able to get on that web site, on a laptop with Windows 10, on a different internet provider. The web site I am referring to has nothing to do with the Government. It is an antique tractor club.

RetiredTruckingMan,

The very first thing you said was "My problem is similar to the
previous problem." You did not tell us which problem that was.
I have recently had a problem with a single website and asked
here what the problem is. You might have been referring to the
thread I started. Or not. You did not describe your problem in
enough detail to guess what the cause is.

One thing you could do is tell us which thread you referred to.

Another would be to tell us the URL of the website.

But you absolutely have to tell us exactly what happens when
you try to go to the website.

My problem has not been solved yet. I haven't tried to go to the
website again in the last several weeks, and I haven't added to
the thread about it in that time. This is the thread:

https://www.computing.net/answers/w...

As I say there, I tried over and over to get on, and sometimes I
could, mostly I couldn't. No explanation why.

I did not do all of the things Johnw suggested. We got off
on a couple of sidetracks -- problems caused by attempts to
diagnose the original problem. But I still hope to figure out
what the problem is.

Johnw’s suggestions may be useful to follow...

Firewall especially...?

My earlier comments were of course tongue in cheek...

Open the gas valve, set the choke & throttle, open the cylinder petcocks, spin the fly wheel & fire that mother up. Yes, I grew up on a farm!

You may have been using Internet Explorer with Windows 7 and Edge with Windows 10. Edge acts differently than IE and that could be the issue.

If this is the issue, dig around for Internet Explorer and try using that, or download a third party browser such as Chrome or Firefox and see if that works.

re: "Why would I post a link to the dot org web site? It isn't a problem with them. "

So we can test it. We're flying (surfing?) blind without more information.

If 10 people tried it, it would probably be tested under 10 slightly different combination of machines, browser versions, add-ins, network connections, etc.

We sure could learn a lot from those tests.

In addition, this is just a posting tip:

When posting in a Help forum such as this, please try to use a Subject Line that tells us something about your question. If everyone used a generic Subject Line such as "What's the problem?" we wouldn't be able to tell one question from another and the archives would essentially be useless.

I have edited the subject line of your post to show you what I mean. Scan the list of questions in this forum to see the types of Subject Lines that others have used.

Thanks!
