Go to the system manufacture web site>Support>Downloads>Drivers and download and install the newest drivers for your machine. Start with the chipset driver and work your way down the list. The touchpad should be its own driver on the list.
Windows Update either overwrote the driver with a generic driver or made an exception that the older driver could no linger work. New drivers should fix it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

There was/is an issue with the latest Windows 10 updates. Could be why you lost those drivers.

✔ Best Answer
Go into Device Manager, choose the HID Touchscreen driver, from Driver tab choose Roll Back, if unavailable choose Uninstall, restart PC to reinstall.

Update ALL drivers including BIOS from manufacture downloads page.

Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method.

In case of any future problem, I advice you to do backup on a regular basis.

I hope this helps.
