Specs: Windows 2000
I have downloaded a winzip file and there are typos in the files that were downloaded. I need to make changes to some of the text. My problem is that when I go into the zip file listing I can of course open the file with note pad and update the html code and text then when I click to save it it saves ok. Then a 2nd dialog box pops up in winzip asking me to save again. I click that and it save it ok. It changes the modified date in the date column in winzip to the date I made the change which is just fine with me. My problem is that when I click that 2nd dialog box that pops up asking me to save it back into the archive it also says folder info not save. What happens is that it saves it back into the archive but loses the path. What this does is mess up the archive so that If you unzip it later, it instead of unzipping it nicely into a desktop folder with all the files inside the folder, it instead put the files with the path in the folder and pops the others with out a path onto the desk top separately. How can revise file withing the winzip archive then save them keeping the original path intact?

✔ Best Answer
Do not try to edit the files while they are still "zipped".
Unzip first, edit files as necessary, the re-zip.
