Which version of IE are you checking with? You will get different results in IE 6 vs IE 7 or IE 8, the later two work on most things like firefox and chrome, but early versions of IE were picky on some things and had loose standards for others.

One issue i am noticing in your code is that you never define your class blue, if you do that it should make IE happier
