Hi everyone,

First of all I have to say that I'm a complete beginner regarding the creation of web applications etc. I hope some people here can help me!

I want to create a database (macroeconomic data about a country) and publish it on a website (which is already existing). I would like this databasa to be "sober" but good-looking, and easily updatable (one-click or automatic refresh, if that's possible).

For the moment I have gathered all the data I want to include on the database in an Excel spreadsheet. As the data comes from various sources, I also kept the sources links.

I am looking for the best way to create a "monitoring tool" which allows to see all this data at a glance, link the data to their sources for easy update, and put in online as part of a website.

I hope this make sense... I need to know what is the best way to do this!

All tips and advices are welcome!

This is a common question.

As it is a simple spreadsheet then you can obviously export it to HTML. The problem here is that this is static.

The key question is what format are the sources? Can they be access by a computer program?

HTML will be fine as most of my data are static, that is to say they have to be updated every month or even every year only.

But there are a few data that I would like to update daily, for instance, currency exchange rates, using Is there a "simple" way to link this website to my database for auto updates?
