Dirctory to GET Argument using htaccess

October 14, 2011 at 11:23:37
Specs: Windows XP
Good Morning.
I am trying my way to convert an address like

www.peermade.info/nature/page1
to
www.peermade.info?arg1=nature/page1

I tried making rules like
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule (.*)$ index.php?arg1=$1

and it did not help.
I will be happy if you can help me to solve this issue.
Thank you

I'm not sure why you'd want to. The top one is easier for web crawlers I believe, and you can see the URL is shorter while making it easy for humans and crawlers to read.

Apologies if I don't respond to your reply immediately. I don't check this site daily, but you're welcome to PM me as a reminder.

When the visitor type
www.peermade.info/nature/page1

the index.html file should be able to get it as
www.peermade.info?arg1=nature/page1
So that i can look for the file inside the db and show it.

This is for Better SEO

Thank you
George
