Yeah me too I want to start from scratch like c++ OOP programmer would hello world example?? Any pointers to good video / straight forward tutorials???
Bash & Korn scripts preffered?
It is unusual that you would pick kernel programming without any apparent experience with Unix, operating systems, cpu architecture, programming, and hardware interfacing, They are many books available and the source code of Linux and other variants of Unix are available. It's just a large amount of reading, maybe many megabytes of code.
Yes it is right that without any experience in Unix, O.S. , etc. it wil b difficult to directly start with kernel prog. den pls show me the path how i must start..
I was having the subject Unix Internals in my Msc.. I found it iteresting..therfore I decided to make career in it..
Pls recomend me some nice books for C/C++ and Unix.(where concepts r explained very deeply..)
The Best Way to Start is Get A Linux/FREE Bsd Os into Ur machine And Explore it doing everything you can And repaiiring the problems you get after your deeds using google this way u will know what is linux/unix and then you will get a view of how to start programming then reading books some of them i would like to refer you here
linux programming by example-arnold robbiins,
begginning linux prog, advanced linux programming -wrox series
then you will know where to and how to proceed
If you really want to do kernel programming you can start by reading a few books about OS internals. Ones that I could recommend are Mac OS X Internals, Professional Linux Kernel Architecture, and The Design and Implementation of the 4.4BSD Operating System. You should be able to find these on Amazon. None of these books are particularly easy reading, but the task that you have set yourself is not an easy one.
Thanks a lot BuzzR.. i will have to follow this for more in depth conversations and details to groom myself..
