how can we remove the stuck ids in sco unix 7

Specs: unix 7.1, HP poloriat ML350
how can I remove the stuck ids like recp7 is the reception user id but by loging through root and give the command kill -9 1107(ID no.) it was unable to remove and user cant used his id. Only after restarting rhe server it works. Is there is any other option also.

This can happen when either the users .profile or some other shell has a trap command in it. When users close a window or simply turn the computer off, the signal 1 (hangup) will be caught and not sent to the process. This then creates an orphaned (or defunct) process which cannot be killed.

This is just a guess since I haven't used SCO since 1997.
