What hardware do you think will be in the future consoles like Nintendo's Wii, Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

How much powerful do you think the hardware in the new consoles will be compared to now (probably a alot but you never know).

When will they come out (estimate or approx).

Do you think Microsoft should make a portable console like Nintendo and Sony did?

I am a hardware guy not a software guy but i try to help.

I think newer consoles will utilize faster processors (of course) with more transistors. At the current rate of technological advancements, I'm sure the processors will equal the power of a small supercomputer. The PS3's Cell CPU (with 9 vector processors) has already matched the processing power of a 90s era supercomputer, but eventually there could be a limit to the future of technology. I was also thinking about how consoles could be improved a couple of weeks ago, bu the only thing I could come up with was a "suit" which sends feedback from the game. For instance, pretend you're playing something like, lets say, Battlefield. When the player gets shot, you could also feel the bullet as a soft thump on the place you got shot, but definitely not hard enough to kill you. A 3D simulator with sensors would be cool, too. The screen surrounds you so it would be like you're actually in the game. But, just so you won't run into the screen when you're playing, the floor should be somewhat like a treadmill to allow physical movement. I'm not sure if that's possible but I would say the technology to be able to do that would be available in around 10 years, but maybe that's just me. The power of future consoles might be twice, if not four times as fast as today's consoles making even the PS3 and Xbox 360 as obsolete as an abacus.

"Do you think Microsoft should make a portable console like Nintendo and Sony did?"

I never actually thought of that but that would be nice. If it can use a good amount of computing power to display nice graphics, I wouldn't mind.

That treadmill idea is good but not good for the lazy side (where i belong).
They could make a kind of suit that you wear so that it feels more real life when you are playing, lets say kinect.

There was a thing like that on the gadget show on battle field 3 where there is an all round treadmill and motion sensing cameras to sense where you are aiming and when you get shot in the game you are shot from that same angle by paintball guns it's really cool. =)
