Wow, 11 years on Computing.net

Specs: Any Win, Core i5 / 4GB
Been around 11 years I've been using Computer.Net. (thought I think it's been longer, but 2002 is the oldest post I can find in my history). Don't use it as often as I once did, but it's good to come back once in awhile. You can't know everything and sometimes it's about giving back. I've learned alot over those years and much of it in the beginning was from here.

At some stage the very old posts seemed to vanish (although they hung around for some years).

My first post was 14 June 1999 number 7990 on Windows 95 - used Prof as my name.
It has now vanished, maybe because email addresses were not encrypted in those days and the posts were pulled for security reasons (or neglect LOL). Here's the dead URL:

There are some other long termers still posting. These come to mind:

CurtR
DAVEINCAPS
jennifer
OtheHill
wanderer

They let us out of our cells at the weekends LOL.

Yep, I've been hanging out here since 98. I had just bought a new computer and it was a beauty....a Pentium 2 - 450 Mhz I was so amazed considering my previous computer was a 486 SX-33. I actually bought the PC the day before 98 was officially released so I didn't even install the OS until I picked it up the next day.

I arrived here about 2 days later looking for some help with an issue with Windows 98 and haven't left.

Just out of curiosity I checked and it shows my first post as being 2005. I suspect if you post lots it won't go back as far as someone who posts less often as the history seems to contain a finite number of posts (something like 50).

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

Hey,

Well, we also occasionally purge really, really old postings. We do this mainly because we don't really want people looking at solutions that are 10+ years old and thinking the information is current.

That could be why it might be difficult to find some of your older postings.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I started here pre-2000, but no big deal. Onward and forward, out with the old bugs, in with the new "features"!

I don't remember the first time I posted here. At some point, my userid was taken over by someone else, so I created this one.

This is such an amazing site...very helpful. Thanks to all the "helpers", mods, and Super-kudos to Justin for all the bulls**t he puts up with. :)

Re #11

Seems like you've been here for years even with your present name.
I reckon you might be the record holder - nice to see that you are still treading the boards.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
