Solved Why Doesn't Tom's Online Scanner Detect Operating System

Specs: Windows XP, 996 MHz / 510 MB
Out of curiosity I ran the online scanner on one of my XP systems. Windows XP Professional, Java 7 Update 4 installed. After the scan, the specs on my Systems Specs page do not show OS type, or video card for that matter, both entries are blank. Why? Is there a setting in Windows I can change so that it is reported? (P.S. interestingly enough, as I'm typing this post the boxes below are showing the "Exact OS" as Windows XP, could that just be getting detected via browser user agent?)

As with any piece of software, its not compatible with every possible setup. That is probably why you are experiencing issues. Unfortunately, since its a windows tool, we can't guarantee 100% compatibility on that specific program.

Did you try refreshing your browser?

Thank you both for the reply. I also tried this on my main Pentium 4 OptiPlex GX240 tower running XP Professional, with the same results as the Pentium III IBM. It does seem that the OS gets detected once you "ask a question", so the System Specs seems to fill in the OS by picking up the browser agent, not during a system scan. As far as the video card goes, I don't know when/how/or if that ever gets populated. The system scan is interesting technology though.
