Lots of people now use the acronym DAGS for Do A Google Search.

However, if you DAGS DAGS, there are no results indicating that DAGS is an acronym for Do A Google Search.

You can find the acronym if you DAGS DAGS do a google search but if you already know what it stands for, there is no need to DAGS.

Something is amiss here. ;-)

And all this time I thought DAGS was an acronym for something totally different.

As for the Google search, I like GIYF :)

re: GIYF

I stopped using that acronym a long time ago. I got tired of always getting responses like:

"Oh no it's not! Google tracks everything you do.I don't need them knowing what I do on the web." etc. etc.

DAGS is "safer". They can choose to follow that suggestion or not, but they can't push back with all sorts of paranoia related to who is their friend and who isn't.

I'm not sure you aren't insulting a bunch of people when you DAGS:

See:

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/dag

Noun

dag ‎(plural dags)

A hanging end or shred, in particular a long pointed strip of cloth at the edge
of a piece of clothing, or one of a row of decorative strips of cloth that may
ornament a tent, booth or fairground.

A dangling lock of sheep’s wool matted with dung.

I think the second reference will come in handy, the next argument I have. :-)

Amazing the things you learn when you Do A Google Search.

Of course you could always use GIT (Google it) but that has unfortunate connotations as well!
