Unceremonial Closing of Hotmail Account Rant

July 1, 2010 at 13:50:45
Specs: Windows XP
I am flabbergasted; I have been locked out of my account by MSN. To wit, you are stating that I have violated your usage terms. That is ludicrous! Your Company representative just made a very bad call on this one! Does MSN have no scruples, or moral responsibility towards its users? What happened to “innocent until proven guilty’? I simply do not know how your Company could have made that kind of judgment call without some type of notice and/or notice to explain what is/was perceived to me a misuse of hotmail.
I assure you, that if I inadvertently did something that caused another user, concern, it was completely without my knowledge. In addition, if your Company had made me aware of the matter, in question; then I am certain that I could have clarified myself of any wrongdoing, satisfactorily. It is unconscionable to me, that you would just assume the worst of someone. I have been seeking to find a roommate, using Craigslist Denver and Boulder CO, for the past several days. I also provided information about myself to some of the parties, to which I was responding. Obviously, someone completely misinterpreted something I said or attached, (although I cannot imagine HOW) and based on their reporting same to MSN, your Company just judiciously locked me out of my email communication account, (of which I only have one) without any type of notification or attempt to seek an explanation! Shame on you!
I expect MSN to re-establish my account, and to advise me of WHY I was locked out of my account on the say so of someone, who might be “Craigslist - Paranoid", (Why did they advertise for a roommate on Craigslist, if they are so suspect of people.) then we are going to have some issues. Your obvious lack of respect, and fair play towards your users, is unacceptable. I will do everything within my power, to be certain that the next time your Company judiciously and unceremoniously locks someone out of their email communication world, there will be some type of proper procedure(s) in place to ascertain that NO ONE ELSE is condemned, and locked out of their email communication world, without some sort of due process.
I am a 58 yr old female, with an impeccable reputation! You should be able to see, from my searches, and the emails on my account that I am not some pervert. Have you ever heard the saying, "The accuser is usually, the abuser", or "Believe NOTHING of what you hear, and only half of what you see"? Your Company should KNOW that meanings might be so easily misconstrued, via communication, between people who are complete strangers to one another, (more especially if a user is paranoid and/or a drama queen or king) and are communicating without the advantage of sight or even sound! I am not the person that was advertising for a roommate via Craigslist. I was merely trying to find a good roommate situation, and have been going about it the best way I know how. I cannot imagine that anything I provided via my hotmail email account and/or as an attachment(s) sent via an email from my hotmail account, to anyone whose craigslisting I was responding to, as not being guileless. I am a very truthful and straightforward person.
I did receive a message from someone representing himself or herself on Craigslist, as Virginia, this past Tuesday evening, saying, “We needed to talk ASAP". I remembered the message because it stood out because of its' unusual urgency, which is why I remember it. In fact, I mentioned it to my husband, (we are separating -- which is why I need a roommate) since I could not imagine why the message sounded so urgent. Since it was getting late when I read said email, I did not contact the person calling himself or herself Virginia via email, until the next morning, and I called the number that she/she had provided, where I left a vm message for him/her. I just assumed that the reason the person wanted to speak to me ASAP, and left their telephone number for me to contact, was that they perhaps had another party who was interested in the listing on craigslist, and she wanted to speak with me first, before she made a decision, and chose a roommate. The unusual email was from a person listing himself or herself as Virginia, who listed herself/himself by the name of Virginia in their craigslist add. I remember remarking on her/his name and telling her/him that I liked their name. Being from the South, I liked that her/his name was that of a Southern state.
I am not prepared to quietly tolerate being locked out of my account, for even a short period, without some form of legal retaliation, especially since there was no due process. Your Company indiscriminately locked me out of what provides my access to a large part of the world that I communicate with, via my hotmail account. I am self-employed, and I have VITAL information saved and filed on my hotmail account. Because of your unceremoniously locking me out of my account, I not only am extremely inconvenienced (I have had my email account close to 10 years, I believe), but I am going to be losing employment opportunities, as well. Your legal counsel should probably provide me with the courtesy of a telephone call, so that we may discuss damages, which you might think about the next time, before you unceremoniously and judiciously just assume something bad about someone; not bothering to give them the grace to know what they are being perceived to have violated. Again, shame on you.
I will be talking to various reporters! The more I think about it, it should go under the STRANGE NEWS category. By the way, my son-in-law is an FBI agent, and I am going to contact him, now. I am sending you this correspondence, at or about 1:40pm, July 1, 2010, as I have just realized what you have done. I am in shock, about this accusation and defamation of character by someone; I can only assume is calling himself or herself Virginia, and I demand a reasonable explanation of same.
I am amazed and furious with your Company for its' apparent complete lack of decency and respect for a user that has been a loyal consumer of Microsoft products for many years.

re: The Rant

Now that's what I like - succinct and concise phrasing that gets your point across in as few words as possible.

I'm out of breath from just reading it!

If your email is as long as the sample you've given us, your account probably just ran out of space. Or maybe the server got bored and went to sleep. Ask someone at MS to jiggle the mouse and/or press the Any Key. :/

U didn't read all of it either, but, If someone hacked your account, like they did mine, the hacker may have done something without your knowledge. When someone hacked my hotmail account, all they did was E-Mail my private account that I only use for signing up for websites.
