Tech Community,
I wanted to thank you for answering my first question. I've never done anything like this before, and was hoping it wasn't some type of scam. You've been wonderful and I wanted to print it "Out Loud" for others.

Now Computing.Net is offering to Scan my System. Is this like an internet first date? I'm embarrased to have someone scan my system. It's take all the fun out of a first date. Ha Ha Seriously, should I do this? I might not like the answer, it could be so depressing. Would it be posted, and then everyone get to laugh at the computer illiterate?

Again thanx so much you've been great!!

Rhonda

I never heard of this scan deal. I'd wonder about it.

I'd try for more on the first date anyway. :)

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

"Ha Ha Seriously, should I do this? "
welcome to computing.net, actually the scan my system thing helps to post your PC specs and makes it easier for people to help you with whatever problem you have on your PC. It saves us time when answering your posts.

Tech Community,
I wanted to thank you for answering my first question.

Now just wondering, what was your first question that was answered? Thanks
EDIT: It's OK I found your post...some antiques still run so all is well! Your legs must be crammed with huge muscles! LOL...you are a card!

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

jefro Hello,
Sorry I didnt respond sooner. I'm trying to navigate this site, it's stuffed with so much information, I got lost. As to the scan deal, maybe it's an offer from a male computer system. But your right, I'll hold out for more. Something memorable for a first date.
Thanx Rhonda

XpUser4Real Hello,
Thanx for the welcome.
Post my specs for "Scan my System"? Will it want wgt, hgt, eye color etc? Will he know if I fib? I'm thinking jefro has a good idea, that I hold out for more.

Xp, you must be a pro at this stuff to find my first post. I just stumbled on this my second post. LMiller and Derek were awesome to reply back. They didn't even laugh in print at me. I'd of never thought to use rubberbands either.

Thanx for the tips/links in red. Will they be in "easy to read beginner with pictures"? I don't have my decoder ring yet for PC lingo.

As to my antique (mature) system, it's a great cardio work out, until I slow down and get the boot. I'll be parting with it soon, if your interested in a good work out. Let me know.
Again thanx for the welcome.
Rhonda

Rking

Clicking on a bold user name at the top of any post takes you to more information. In your case there are only 4 threads that you participated in. Try it.

Hello all,
OtheHill,
Thank you.
I did as you suggested and clicked on your bold name. WOW, look at all your medals, it's like computer Olympics. Is there a category for (special) slow participants? 15,933 posts - to my 4 I'll never catch up on this mature system.
Again thanx, it was a great pointer for a newbie to your community. I can't believe how helpful everyone has been. It speaks well for all of you.

Howdy Rking.

I was just like you about ten years ago when I stumbled on this site purely by accident while searching yahoo for a fix to trouble I was having with what was then not a very old system. You can learn a lot from these folks they will save you a trip to the repair shop time and again. Just like anywhere else there are a few jerks but I am betting less than normal here. I spend many hours here just reading away and learning what I can.

Welcome!

Likely

Hello again,

Likelystory.....Thank you for the Welcome! Your another one with medals. WOW These gotta be for knowledge I'm assuming.

Likely, your right about learning lots here, I've lost hours reading and browing. What an incredible resource for the expert or novice.

I'm just hanging on with the system I have now. Then I'll be buying new, no idea what. But I'll be sure to keep this website for future use.

I have NO computer knowledge. So I try to limit my posts to general topics and my feelings for the website as a newbie. That way I don't tie up threads, or heaven forbid embarrass myself. =)

I've not encountered any "jerks", but then I don't post alot either. Everyone has been helpful and given me many clues for getting around.

Perhaps I could be part of the "Welcome Aboard new members" group. Give tips for stubbing your toes, while visiting. Provide a map, flashlight, aspirin and cookies. (for consumption) And point out rest stop areas.

Again, thank you Likely, and Howdy back at ya.
