My first rant of the New Year...

If any of you have ever called Verizon Wireless Customer Service, you are probably aware of the annoying situation where after you complete the call, you get an automated call from Verizon to take a "survey" rating the service that you received.

Sometimes these survey calls come within minutes of ending the call with Verizon Wireless, sometime it's hours later. Sometimes the calls even come in during the middle of the night.

I call them today with a question about my plan. The Level 1 person couldn't answer my question directly and put me on hold while she checked with Level 2. While I was on hold, my phone indicated a "call waiting". I switched to the either number and guess who it was?

The automated Verizon Wireless Customer Satisfaction Survey! Their system didn't even wait until I was done with my call to Customer Service.

When the rep came back on and I told her about it, she jokingly asked if I told them how much I liked being on hold. If nothing else, we both got a good laugh out of it.

There is a special coming up on CNBC this Thursday, I think. All about bad customer service at 9 PM. Check your local listings.
