Hi, I'm just wondering why the reply button under everybody's reply posting does not make a direct answer to that person's reply? What is happening is that when you click the reply button on that, it just adds your comment to the bottom of the original post...doesn't make much sense.

Is there a way to add the comment in to the person's answer? That may simplify things IMO
thanks

Hey,

No, there is no way to do what you ask. The forum is single-threaded. There's no way to reply to specific replies. That is just a button so people can easily find the reply section. I realize it could be somewhat confusing, but, in a posting with a lot of replies, it might be confusing for a new user to find where to reply (he'd have to scroll all the way down). I'd like to err on the side of making it easier to reply in this case.

Ok, sounds fine to me...I just thought it would make things easier, didn't know the forum was single threaded.
Thanks

To be honest I'd be afraid to use the reply button especially on a longer thread. I read the question and one or two answers and throw my reply in then read down to find out I just restated what was said in the third, seventh, and eighteenth replies.

likelystory,

That is good a point. However, do you see that happening a lot? The design has been like that for over a year. I haven't noticed much of what you are talking about. Perhaps I'm wrong?

I have only noticed a couple where there were piggyback questions on top of origionals, or lots of people have an option.

Justin,

I'm not sure I see it happening at all it's just me. I've been here a while so I am used to doing it the other way though too so I really don't pay much attention to the reply button.

likelystory,

Yeah, that makes sense, people just get used to it a certain way.
