I was replying to something in one of the forums today, and included some html links that I typed in manually, and they reverted to a link to the posting that they were posted in instead of the link.I was hoping for. I was curious if that has occurred to others. I suppose it makes sense if I typed a link wrong that it might default to the topic as a safety measure or something like that.

Note that the issue has been resolved with an edit, this is merely a curiosity.

mikelinus,

This happens if the link is extremely long (over 300 characters). It is a security feature. It could also happen if you have errors in the way the link is constructed. The site is much more strict with HTML links now. They must follow valid html of href="link" . This is probably what happened.

Thanks!

It was probably just a typo on one then, and then a google link(super long on the second)on the other. Makes sense as a organizational measure, just the first time it happened. Thanks for the fast reply.

Hi,

No problem, if you ever need a really long link, you can just use a link shortener.
