Boy how far we have come. Ten years ago if I had issues with a cell phone I either read the manual ( I am male so it is a given that I won't do this until it breaks ) or I took it back to where I bought it and got mt money back. Now I can go to an online self help computing forum to teach me how to use a simple cell phone. Maybe a good idea for me to give up my drivers license. Can I learn to drive here too?????

Are you comparing a ten year old cell phone to the Android phones of today?

Are you calling the Android phones of today "a simple cell phone"?

Not to affend Derby but I am doing both. Don't try to explain the difference it will fall on deaf ears. I know the differences and just don't care regardless of what it is capable of to me it is still just a cell phone. I see the commercials and all the folks running around playing with the things and bragging about how great they are. I never hear how after using one of these gadgets for a few years the user now needs glasses due to eye strain but I do see them buying the glasses.

The thing that stands out to me here is that this is a forum for help with computing issues. I understand these toys have moved so much closer to being computers but they are still just cell phones to me and that won't change. When they can perform a lude act on my person then they will be a dirty cell phone but still nothing more.

I guess the way I look at it is all the things that these over priced toys can do, and I am sure we have not reached the end yet, are not good. Yeah some have found more ways to keep in touch using them GREAT!!! Some have found them to be an excuse for why they did not see that four year old crossing the street. I understand in some jobs these devices make the job so much easier WONDERFUL! I also understand that there are families that no longer speak to each other to the point of not remembering a childs birthday.

Yes I do see these as just a simple cell phones and not at all a leap foreword as many see them.
