iPhone 6 rumours and thoughts?

Specs: IOS
Hi computing.net members.

I am seeking opinions on the rumours of a screen size increase on the impending release of the iPhone 6.

For me, I am excited at the prospect of an initial release of a 4.7 inch and at a later date a 5.5 inch screen size. For me I am willing to wait the extra couple of months for the 5.5 inch if the rumours are true.

While I am not an avid apple fan in general, I am a fan of their tablets and phones, with one caveat, I feel the need to jailbreak them to personalise the devices and increase their functionality to suit me.

I was seriously contemplating moving to an android device until I heard the rumours of an increased screen size with the iPhone. I like the functionality of apple mobile products and ease of use, but like the screen size increase of android options out there and the freedom of configuration.

I am eagerly awaiting the iPhone 6 release but am not completely sold on it yet.

What are your thoughts?

It's like the iPhone 5, except too large for my pockets, and possibly no headphone jack. (I'd link to the Forbes article, but I don't like rewarding click-bait.) Pass.

I'll probably end up with an Android before too long. They've more or less caught up on quality, and they're more customizable.

Hi Razor.

Thanks for your input.

I didn't realise there is a possibility of no headphone jack. This would almost certainly steer me away from the iPhone.

I agree that the hardware specs of other smartphones are on a par or even better in a lot of cases. Especially where the battery is concerned. My iPhone 5's battery is weak. My 3GS can outlast it now.

I would take that "leaked" picture with a grain of salt, the picture the phone is supposedly displaying is that of the Samsung Galaxy S5, they didn't even bother Photoshoping it very well, you can see the seams around the edge of the screen.
Even if the specs are true, they still fall short of the new Galaxy S5. My iPhone died a month ago and I didn't feel like waiting until fall for the new iPhone to come out so I jumped ship and went with the S5. I couldn't be happier. Bigger screen, faster processor, water resistant, more freedom to do what you want with the phone, etc.

I'm considering an S5. Has Samsung manged to control their bloat yet, or should I look at a Nexus?

There does seem to be a bit of bloat but it can all be uninstalled through the Application manager. I've got mine running pretty lean & mean.
